Privacy Policy

1. Scope and operator

This Policy explains how Kitchen Fridge processes information when you use the website, create an account, upload product photos, search for and save recipes, rate results, or contact support. Kitchen Fridge is the name of the service.

2. Information we process

Account information may include your email address, display name, authentication provider and provider identifier, preferred language, country, onboarding choice, plan, usage allowances, and records of accepting the Terms and this Notice.

Service information may include ingredients and product details you enter or confirm, dietary and allergen filters, equipment and cooking preferences, searches, generated or viewed recipes, favourites, ratings, feedback, and the photos you submit for ingredient recognition.

Support and technical information may include your name, email, topic and message, timestamps, browser or device data, security events, provider response identifiers, and hashed network identifiers used for security and rate limiting. Questions entered in the Support assistant are sent to AI to generate the requested answer but are not saved in the owner’s case table. A suggestion or complaint is stored in a separate administrator-only table only after you submit its dedicated form and consent. Support forms do not store your raw IP address.

Without registration, one search is available under Free rules (up to 6 recipes, first 3 open). Register to start a separate 7-day Free period. To prevent repeat guest searches, we retain a keyed hash of the visitor IP address and a guest cookie identifier while this restriction operates. We do not store the raw IP in this record or collect MAC addresses. People sharing an IP may need to register after the first guest search.

3. How we use information

We use this information to authenticate users, provide and personalise recipe functions, recognise ingredients, generate and translate recipes and images, maintain favourites and usage limits, answer support requests, secure the service, diagnose failures, measure visits and improve reliability. We do not sell personal information or use advertising cookies.

4. Photos and artificial intelligence

An uploaded photo is processed temporarily by the server and sent to AI for the requested recognition. Recognised and confirmed product information may be stored in the database, but the photo itself is deleted after recognition and is not retained.

5. Cookies, local storage and analytics

The service uses authentication/session cookies and browser storage for essential account state, language choice and help-guide progress. Google Analytics 4 starts automatically when you open the website, without an on-site consent prompt. The Google tag may use analytics cookies or identifiers and process page URL and title, referrer, browser, device, language, approximate location and limited interaction events. Ingredient names, photo contents, recipe text, support messages, account names and email addresses are not intentionally sent to Google Analytics. Advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google Signals remain disabled.

6. Service providers and third parties

Cloudflare provides hosting, D1 database and R2 object storage; Supabase provides authentication; OpenAI provides AI recognition, text and image functions; Google provides the Google Analytics 4 measurement service. Recipe source links may lead to independent websites governed by their own privacy notices. Identity providers selected at sign-in process information under their own terms. These providers may process information in countries other than yours.

7. Retention and security

We apply reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect your data. Authentication and password management are handled by Supabase Auth. Access to data is restricted to authorised personnel.

8. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us through the Contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. We will notify you of material changes by email sent to the address in your account, stating the effective date and providing a link to the updated version. If you do not agree with the changes, you may delete your account by contacting us through the Contact page. Continuing to use the Service after the changes take effect means that you accept them.

10. Contact information

For privacy questions, contact us through the Contact page.
